Under the expert guidance of seasoned instructors, the trainees underwent rigorous skiing training, honing their skills and gaining invaluable experience on the pristine slopes of Gulmarg. The course curriculum covered various skiing techniques, including kick turn, snow plough, snow plough turn, traverse/uphill swing, long parallel turn, short parallel turn, downhill swing, and basic swing. Each participant demonstrated remarkable progress, showcasing their newly acquired skills during the final evaluation.

In a first for the institute, IISM also conducted its inaugural Method of Instruction (MOI) course, which saw 11 students participate. This initiative underscores IISM’s commitment to expanding training opportunities and addressing the diverse skill development needs in winter sports. The MOI course is expected to produce qualified instructors who will contribute to the growth of skiing at the grassroots level.

The closing ceremony was graced by Ms. Renu Bamrara, AD (T), who served as the chief guest. She distributed awards to the top performers and certificates to all successful trainees. In her address, Ms. Bamrara praised the dedication and hard work of the participants and acknowledged the relentless efforts of the instructors and staff in ensuring the success of the course.

“IISM Gulmarg has consistently played a pivotal role in developing skilled skiers who have brought laurels to the nation. This course is yet another testament to the institute’s commitment to fostering a strong winter sports culture and providing aspiring athletes with world-class training opportunities,” she said.

Over the years, IISM Gulmarg has emerged as a premier institution for winter sports training, producing athletes who have excelled in national and international competitions. With its state-of-the-art facilities and experienced faculty, the institute continues to inspire and empower the next generation of skiers and mountaineers.

As the fifth Snow Skiing Course concludes, the institute looks forward to welcoming more enthusiasts in the upcoming seasons, further solidifying its reputation as a hub for winter sports excellence.
