Srinagar: CPI(M) senior leader and MLA Kulgam, Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami on Sunday contested claims of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar wherein he asserted that Dr B R Ambedkar refused to draft Article 370.

Taking to micro-blogging site X (formerly Twitter), Tarigami said: “Hon’ble Vice President’s claim that Dr. B.R. Ambedkar refused to draft Art. 370 is a blatant distortion of historical facts. Nowhere in Ambedkar’s extensive writings, including his book Pakistan or the Partition of India, is there any mention of such a refusal”.

“Credit for drafting Art. 370 goes to Gopalaswami Ayyangar, who was part of 7 member drafting committee that formulated the Indian Constitution,” he said on X.

“Article 370 of the Constitution of India was introduced in the Constituent Assembly on October 17, 1949. It was adopted as Article 306A. Additionally, his claims about the FDI do not align with the ground reality,” Tarigami added on X.
