Sheeri, Baramulla: As news of Auqib Nabi’s impressive Ranji Trophy performance reached his hometown of Sheeri, a quiet sense of pride spread through the village. Family, friends, and local cricket enthusiasts gathered at the Dar household to congratulate his parents and celebrate his achievement.

Auqib’s father, Ghulam Nabi Dar, reflected on his son’s journey with a mix of pride and nostalgia. “I always encouraged him to focus on academics, but cricket was his passion. Seeing him reach this level proves that dedication and hard work can take a person far,” he said.

Auqib’s success has sparked enthusiasm among aspiring cricketers in Sheeri, who have followed his journey from playing on local grounds to representing Jammu and Kashmir in the prestigious Ranji Trophy.

“He has always been a determined player,” said Arif, a young cricketer from the village. “Watching him work hard over the years gives us hope that we, too, can pursue our dreams in cricket.”

Local cricket enthusiasts recall Auqib’s early days playing tennis-ball cricket in the village, where his natural talent stood out. “He had a sharp bowling technique even as a child,” said Bashir Ahmad Lone, a family friend. “His ability to swing the ball both ways made him a promising player from the start.”

At the Dar household, well-wishers visited to share in the family’s happiness. Auqib’s mother expressed her gratitude, acknowledging the struggles her son faced. “He has worked hard for this, and today we see those efforts paying off,” she said.

His younger brother, who has always supported his cricketing ambitions, added, “We always believed in him. This is just one milestone—there’s more to come.”

Beyond personal celebrations, Auqib’s achievement highlights the potential of young cricketers from Jammu and Kashmir. His journey underlines the need for stronger sports infrastructure and support systems in the region.

“There are many talented players in J&K,” said a local cricket coach. “With the right facilities and opportunities, more cricketers from our region can perform at the national level.”

As Sheeri acknowledges its local star, the focus remains on how his journey can inspire the next generation. For Auqib Nabi, this success is just the beginning, and his supporters are eager to see what the future holds for him in Indian cricket.
