JKSDM starts registration for Skill Courses under PMKVY

SRINAGAR, JULY 2:  J&K Skill Development Mission (JKSDM) has started registrations of candidates under the PMKVY (Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana) scheme.

JKSDM has shortlisted 82 training partners (institutions) for conducting skill development training programs under PMKVY for unskilled, semi-skilled and unemployed youth of J&K.

PMKVY is the flagship outcome-based Skill Training Scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE) through which candidates are provided placement linked skill trainings. The program is fully sponsored by the Government wherein candidates don’t have to spend from their pocket. JKSDM will be training 14900 candidates for the current year and around 32000 candidates from 2019-2020 in 22 skill sectors such as IT, ITeS, apparels, hospitality, automotive, sports, food processing, etc. JKSDM has identified 43 courses in 22 skill sectors and the entire training and assessment fees are being fully sponsored by the Government.

The training imparted at PMKVY Training Centres (TCs) is aimed to benefit candidates either semi-skilled/unskilled or unemployed above 14 years of age. The training programs are certified and imparted as per the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF). Besides, hard skills, TCs will also impart training in soft skills, entrepreneurship, financial and digital literacy.

The duration of the training varies per skill courses, ranging between 150 and 600 hours. Candidates shall be provided placement assistance by Training Partners (TPs) upon successful completion of their training courses. For registration candidates can visit JKSDM’s website www.jkssdm.org to submit the registration forms. Application forms will also be available at JKSDM Jammu and Srinagar office.

“JKSDM has selected job-oriented courses and TPs were selected through a rigorous process to ensure quality training is being imparted to trainees and their placement is guaranteed”, said JKSDM official.
