Srinagar: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Chaudhary claimed on Thursday that the inter-ministerial panel investigating the fatalities in Rajouri’s Badhaal village from an inexplicable illness will reach a ‘definitive conclusion’ shortly.

Expressing sorrow over the loss of lives, the deputy CM said the Centre and J&K governments share the same level of concern over the mystery surrounding the inexplicable fatalities in the affected hamlet.

The government, he said, is committed to solving the mystery shrouding these deaths, and that teams of doctors and scientists are tirelessly working to determine the source of the odd ailment.

“The state and central government’s  are equally saddened by the loss of precious lives in Badhaal village. The inter-ministerial team that was established to investigate the deaths from an unexplained illness will come to a final conclusion soon,” the deputy chief minister told reporters here this evening, adding, it’s unfortunate that four more children have contracted the enigmatic ailment.

In order to ensure that no more lives are lost to this enigmatic illness, he said the J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah, and the health and other ministers personally visited the affected hamlet and directed the officials to speed up investigation.

“Delhi-based teams formed by the union ministry of home affairs and the state government work together to find a lead about this enigmatic ailment which has turned into a mystery. Neither the public nor the government want anyone to pass away from this unexplained sickness,” he said, adding that a few days ago, “I went to see the child who passed away in the hospital; despite the fact that she was mute, her parents asked that I save their daughter. We regret that we were unable to save her!”
