After the attack, locals from the nearby Kokar Bagh area tracked and attacked the leopard, and killed it.

A team from the Wildlife Department arrived at the scene following the incident and collected the body of the wild animal.

Wildlife Officer, Budgam, Bashir Ahmad confirmed that the leopard was killed by locals after it attacked few people.

He said that the animal was sleeping in an abandoned house. “The leopard came out after it was disturbed by the people,” he added and requested people not to confront the wild animals without any provocation.

Meanwhile, locals urged the government to establish a sub-office of the Wildlife Department in Khag, citing the need for quicker intervention to manage such encounters and ensure public safety.
