Drug peddler booked under PIT-NDPS Act in Shopian

Srinagar: Police in Shopian have booked a “notorious” drug peddler under Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (PIT NDPS), an official handout informed Tuesday.

It said one Manzoor Ahmad Reshi, son of Abdul Rasheed Reshi of Wachi Reshi Mohalla Shopian has been booked under PIT-NDPS Act after obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, and subsequently lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal Jammu.

Police said that Reshi is a “habitual offender”, and despite having been bound down under preventive measures repeatedly, he persisted with his involvement in illegal drug trafficking, posing a grave threat to the society, especially the youth.
