Srinagar: Police have arrested six drug peddlers in Baramulla and Sopore and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances from their possession, an official handout informed Sunday.
It said at Thanda Kasi Chandoosa, one Mohammad Shaban Maray, son of Late Ghulam Mohammad of Dudbugh, was arrested and 56 grams of cannabis was recovered from his possession.
At Limber Boniyar, two persons — Mehraj Ahmad Najar, son of Late Fateh Najar of Limber, and Shabir Ahmad Bakerwal, son of Wazir Mohammad of Babagail Limber – were arrested and 88 grams of cannabis recovered from their possession.
At Babareshi Crossing, 85 grams of cannabis was recovered from the possession of Ishfaq Ahmad Magray and Dawood Ahmad Magray, sons of Ghulam Rasool Magray, both residents of Dudbugh. They were arrested on the spot.
In Sopore, at Chinar Crossing Fruit Mandi, one Majid Ashraf Khan, son of Mohammad Ashraf Khan of Pethseer Sopore, was arrested and 110 banned tablets (Alprazolam) were recovered from his possession.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered against the arrested persons at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
