 3 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kupwara and Sopore and recovered contraband substances from their possession, an official handout informed Saturday.

It said in Kupwara, at Galizoo, two persons — Mohammad Ashraf Khan, son of Ghulam Ali Khan, of Arampora Halmatpora, and Irshad Ahmad Dar, son of Abdul Ahad Dar of Halmatpora – were arrested after their personal search yielded 10 grams of a heroin-like substance.

At Tarzoo Sopore, Mohammad Ashraf Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohiudin Sheikh of Shorgari Mohalla Tarzoo, was arrested and 7.270 kilograms of contraband cannabis powder-like substance recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigations initiated, police said.
