4 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Srinagar, Kulgam  and Baramulla and recovered contraband substances from their possession, a police handout informed Friday.

It said two persons Syed Athar Rafi, son of Syed Rafi Ahmed of Dehraman Soibugh Badgam, at present Usmania Colony Bemina, and Waseem Ahmed Rather, son of Mohammad Ashraf Rather of Hamdaniya Colony Bemina, were arrested from a car (MH02ER/9763) in Bemina  after 7.10 gms of brown sugar-like substance was recovered from their possession.

In Kulgam, at Khudwani Byepass-NHW, four kgs of poppy straw-like contraband substance was recovered from the possession of one Raj Kumar, son of Meer Chand of Batote Ramban, who was arrested on the spot.

At Parihaspora-Diwer Crossing Pattan, one Syed Akhter Shah, son of Syed Mustafa Shah of Diwer Pattan, was arrested after 5.95 grams of contraband heroin-like substances was recovered from his possession.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigation, police said.
