4 drug peddlers held

Srinagar: Police in Srinagar have arrested two drug peddlers in separate incidents and recovered contraband, psychotropic substances from their possession, a police handout informed Friday.

It said one Bashir Ahmed Ganie, son of Ghulam Mohammad Ganie, resident of Suthsu Kalan, was arrested following a raid at his residential house, which yielded 8.5 kgs of psychotropic substances.

At Sheikh Bagh Lane, one Shabir Ahmad Zaindari, son of Bashir Ahmad Zaindari of Firdous Colony Bemina was arrested and a substantial quantity of contraband substances were recovered from his possession, police said.

Two more drug peddlers identified as Sajad Ahmed Sheikh, resident of Nambla Uri, and Mudasir Ahmed Thoker, son of Ghulam Hassan Thoker of Sonasamil, were arrested in Pulwama, police said, adding that 264.5 grams of heroin was recovered from the possession of one of the accused Mudasir Ahmad.

Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations for further investigations, police said.
