JAMMU: Minister for Agricultural Production and Rural Development, Javid Ahmad Dar, today chaired a comprehensive budgetary meeting for the Animal Husbandry and Sheep Husbandry departments at the Civil Secretariat.
The Minister, while reviewing the overall functioning of both the departments, emphasised focus on the timely projection of works, estimate formation and assessment of the implementation of various schemes and initiatives aimed at farmers’ welfare. He conducted a detailed assessment of department-specific schemes, ensuring their alignment with the welfare of farmers and livestock. He asked the officers for efficient execution and timely delivery of benefits to the stakeholders.
Javid Dar underscored the importance of engaging in meaningful consultations with stakeholders, including farmers, to ensure that the policies and programs are both practical and beneficial.
“Comprehensive consultation with farmers and other stakeholders will lead to effective budgetary formation and work prioritisation besides robust implementation of schemes, fostering sustainable growth in the livestock sector,” maintained the Minister.
The Minister directed the departmental heads to strengthen coordination mechanisms and address challenges to enhance productivity and welfare in the livestock sector. He also stressed the need for continuous monitoring of schemes to ensure enhanced transparency and accountability.
Present in the meeting were Director of Animal Husbandry, the Director of Sheep Husbandry and other concerned officers and officials.
