Railway Ministry considers MLA Pulwama’s request for Vande Bharat stop at Awantipora

Srinagar: The Ministry of Railways is considering a proposal by Pulwama MLA Waheed ur Rehman Para for a Vande Bharat Express stop at Awantipora Railway Station in Pulwama.

In a letter addressed to the MLA, as accessed by the news agency JKNS, Union Minister for Railways Ashwini Vaishnaw acknowledged the request and assured action. “Instructions have been given to the concerned Directorate to conduct a detailed investigation into the stoppage of Vande Bharat Express at Pulwama Railway Station mentioned in your letter dated 29.11.2024,” the letter stated.

Notably, earlier Waheed Para urges railway ministry to establish Vande Bharat Express stop at Awantipora. Para said the location is home to AIIMS, Awantipora airfield, university, industrial hub, and said the area is vital for south Kashmir’s connectivity and development—(JKNS)
