Ghulam Nabi Mir, son of the respected naat khawan and businessman Haji Gh Rasool Mir, was known for his significant contributions to Islamic scholarship and education in Kashmir.

In his early years, alongside managing his family business, Mir briefly engaged in politics. However, his life’s focus remained firmly on scholarship and Sufism.

Author of around 15 books on the Islamic history of Kashmir, Mir’s writings were highly valued within scholarly circles. Known for his dervish-like aura and deep commitment to community service, he was actively involved in various religious and intellectual forums, including the Ghausia Khanaqah. Mir also once served as the head of the management committee of Jamia Masjid Dooru.

His son, Tariq Ali Mir, serves as the executive editor of Bey Laag Sahafat, a well-regarded Urdu magazine in Kashmir.

The Kashmir Images team extends heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and prays for the eternal peace of the departed soul.
