Srinagar: Police arrested two drug peddlers from Srinagar and as many in Ku;lgam, a police spokesperson informed Tuesday.
At Babademb road, police intercepted a vehicle (UP16CN-8991) with two persons on board. During search of the vehicle, 13 bottles of Codeine Phosphate were recovered, following which Ilyas Ahmad Dar, son of Mohammad Ramzan Dar of Dar Mohallah Old Barzulla, Sanat Nagar; and Manzoor Ahmad Dar, son of Late Bashir Ahmad Dar, resident of Tengpora Srinagar – were arrested and vehicle seized.
At village Kaharwath in Kulgam, police intercepted a vehicle (JK18D-4327) and recovered 250 grams of poppy straw-like substance filled in a bag from it. Two persons — Mashooq Ahmad Hella, son of Abdul Rashid of Batpora Kulgam, and Shabir Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Hassan Mir, resident of Okey Kulgam – travelling in the said vehicle were arrested. Vehicle was also seized.
Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in concerned police stations for investigation, police said.
