Speaker JKLA chairs introductory meet at Srinagar

SRINAGAR: Speaker Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Abdul Rahim Rather, today chaired an introductory meeting at the Legislative Assembly Complex here to review its functioning.

The meeting was attended by the Secretary, JKLA, Manoj Kumar Pandita; other senior officers and staff of the Assembly Secretariat.

During the meeting, the Speaker took a detailed appraisal of various pressing issues of the Assembly Secretariat including the infrastructural development and other aspects related to its smooth functioning.

While interacting with the staff, the Speaker maintained that a collaborative and supportive work environment is very important for the smooth functioning of this important institution. He added that the efficiency of our legislative secretariat relies heavily on the commitment and support of our staff.

The Speaker also called upon the officers and staff to work with dedication and commitment, as this prestigious institution is very important for upholding the democratic values of our country.

During the interaction, the staff members also raised several concerns before the Speaker and offered feedback on potential improvements to the Assembly’s functioning.

The Speaker assured the staff that their concerns would be taken seriously and steps would be taken to address them.

During the meeting, the Secretary Legislative Assembly informed the Speaker about the progress on several ongoing initiatives. He informed the Speaker about progress on the implementation of the National E-Vidhan Project (NeVa), progress on framing of Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business for JKLA as well as preparedness regarding the forthcoming Budget session of JKLA.

The Secretary Assembly also appraised the Speaker that promotions at different levels are pending in the Assembly Secretariat since long and the same needs to be done on a priority basis to boost morale of the employees.

The Speaker assured that all the issues pertaining to employees will be addressed at the earliest.
