Constitution Day celebrated across J&K, LG leads officers in reading Preamble

Srinagar: Constitution Day was celebrated in Jammu and Kashmir with Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha leading the officers in reading the preamble to the Constitution of India.

“The Union Territory (UT) of Jammu & Kashmir celebrated the Constitution Day today to commemorate the adoption of the Constitution of India by the Constituent Assembly on 26th November, 1949,” an official spokesman said.

He said the celebration began with Lieutenant Governor Sinha leading the senior officers to read the Preamble to the Constitution of India.

“Greetings on Constitution Day. Tributes to the makers of our Constitution.

“On this momentous occasion, I call upon all to uphold the sanctity of the Constitution and further strengthen principles of social justice, equality and let’s devote ourselves to peace & progress of the society,” Sinha said in a post on X.

Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Abdul Rahim Rather also led the celebrations of Constitution Day by reading out the Preamble of the Constitution at Central Hall of Assembly Complex here.

Secretary Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar; senior officers of the Assembly Secretariat and other staff also took part in the celebrations.

Speaking on the occasion, the Speaker highlighted that this day marks a significant milestone in our country’s democratic progression. He reiterated that by celebrating this day, we all have an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution of the framers of our Constitution.

Pertinently, the government is commemorating 75 years of the adoption of the Constitution and kick-started celebrations under the “Hamara Samvidhan, Hamara Swabhimaan” campaign across the country.

Director of Information, Jatin Kishore also led the celebrations at the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) by reading out the Preamble.

Speaking on the occasion, the Director underlined that by celebrating this day we are acknowledging and paying tributes to the founding fathers of the Constitution. He called upon the participants to rededicate themselves to uphold the values of justice, liberty, equality and dignity for all citizens as envisaged in our Constitution.

The Constitution Day was also observed in Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) here with a special event held at its headquarters in Karan Nagar.

The event saw active participation from SMC officials and highlighted the Constitution’s pivotal role in safeguarding citizens’ rights while promoting civic duties.
