Director Agriculture Kashmir visits “Model Hi-tech poly houses” at Bijbehara

Anantnag: Director Agriculture Kashmir Chowdhury Mohammad Iqbal today visited “Model Hi-tech poly houses” at Bijbehara Anantnag.

On his visit to these highly modern hi-tech polyhouses, the director of agriculture said that these are one of the best in the entire Kashmir division.

Speaking to the Agri entrepreneurs, the Director of Agriculture underscored the importance of vertical expansion in vegetable cultivation. He said under the holistic agriculture development program HADP, the department is working on a special project for round-the-year cultivation of different vegetable crops.

He said the vegetables cultivated in these hi-tech polyhouses these days are one such step in this direction. He said to achieve this goal department has established hi-tech poly houses in all the districts of the Kashmir division.

The director highlighted the importance of conducive agro-climatic conditions of the valley and asked the farmers to diversify their agriculture operations viz a vie crops, varieties. He said these hi-tech polyhouses would add new dimensions to the agriculture scenario in the region. He asked educated youth to come forward and avail benefits of modern technologies in the field of agriculture.

He asked the farmers that the department would provide all the technical assistance to them in comprehensively performing their agricultural activities.

Chowdhury said we have huge potential so for as the vegetable sector is concerned that needs to be explored for the overall economic development of the region.

Chief agriculture officer Anantnag Ajaz Hussain Dar, district agriculture officer and some other officers of the department were present on the occasion.
