Srinagar: The Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP) president and former chief minister Mehbooba Mufti on Thursday urged the government to look into the “abrupt rise” in terror activities across Jammu and Kashmir.
The PDP president was talking to reporters in Sumbal Bandipora while visiting the family of Abida, who was critically wounded in Srinagar’s TRC grenade blast and succumbed to her injuries afterwards.
“It is a painful incident. The deceased lady left three minor kids behind. We are seeing such violent incidents from the last 30-35 years, which have left a big chunk of our children orphaned and females widowed,” Mufti said.
Expressing surprise over rise in terror activities, the PDP president said that the government should look into “why terror incidents have witnessed an abrupt rise after formation of government in Jammu & Kashmir.”
Government should investigate who is doing such acts and expose the elements behind it, she said, adding that the government should also see if there are any security lapses.
