Div Com Kashmir reviews winter preparedness in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: In view of the approaching Winter Season, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri on Tuesday visited Baramulla and chaired a winter preparedness meeting of district officers at the DC office meeting hall here.

The meeting aimed to ensure timely arrangements on the ground for the convenience of the general public across the district.

The meeting was attended by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Baramulla, Minga Sherpa; Additional District Development Commissioner Baramulla, Syed Qamar Sajad; ADC Baramulla, Zahoor Ahmad Raina and district officers of various departments including R&B, PDD, PHE, Health, Education, Agriculture, etc.

At the outset, the DC provided a detailed update to the chair, outlining the robust arrangements made by the district administration to ensure public convenience during the upcoming winter months.

During the review of arrangements, the Div Com directed the officers to plan proactively and develop a strategic approach for snow clearance on both urban and rural roads. He emphasized on the deployment of essential machinery and fully utilization of resources to ensure prompt road clearance and restoration of connectivity.

The Div Com also instructed the Power Development Department (PDD) officers to maintain a buffer stock of power transformers, wires, and oil at sub-divisional repair workshops to enable timely replacement and repair of damaged transformers. Additionally, he urged PDD officers to initiate a campaign to educate consumers on avoiding the use of unsafe devices.

The Div. Com instructed the officers of the Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs department to ensure adequate stocking of essential items, including ration, LPG, petrol, and diesel, across all sub-divisions, remote areas, and district sales centers to guarantee that supplies are readily available in all locations.

Furthermore, the Div Com also instructed officers from departments including R&B, PDD, Agriculture, Revenue, Education, and others to expedite work on projects under the district CAPEX for the financial year 2024-25, ensuring completion before the upcoming winter months.
