Srinagar: Senior Congress leader and MLA Dooru G. A. Mir Sunday said that the recent terror incidents should be seen as internal security issues, not an attempt to disrupt any government commitments.

“Recent terror incidents should be seen as a matter of internal security and not an attempt to derail any commitments,” Mir told reporters as per news agency KINS in Verinag Anantnag.

Mir said that similar events had occurred after the Lok Sabha elections, leading some to speculate about possible disruptions to the democratic process.

“After the Lok Sabha elections, there were suggestions that these incidents aimed to derail the assembly elections that were to follow. But thankfully, after the Supreme Court’s guidance, the elections proceeded smoothly,” he said.

Mir highlighted the importance of restoring Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, a promise made by the Prime Minister on the floor of the Parliament.

“The Prime Minister has committed to restoring statehood, and I believe this is our right. It should be restored without delay,” he told reporters.

As the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly prepares to begin its session tomorrow, Mir expressed hope that the government would prioritize public issues.

“Once the assembly session ends, the Chief Minister’s directions will guide the administration, and they are obliged to implement those directions,” he said.

“I am hopeful that the officers in the administration are wise enough to understand and address the people’s concerns. We will sit with them to discuss these problems and find solutions,” he said. (KINS)
