Srinagar: Police on Saturday said that it have arrested three drug peddlers including a Special Police Officer (SPO) in North Kashmir’s Handwara.

In a handout to GNS, the police said that a team of Handwara Police Led by SHO Kralgund established a Naka at Ananwan Crossing Kralgund, during checking three persons were apprehended namely Irshad Ahmad Gazi S/O Gh Rasool GaziR/O Kralpora Kralgund, Sajad Ahmad Rather S/O Mohd Subhan Rather R/O Kralpora Kralgund and Syed Anwar Geelani (SPO) presently posted at Kupwara S/O Syed Sharief-ud-din Geelani R/O Tangwari kunnel,during their personal search 105 grams of contraband Charas like Substance was recovered from Their possession. All the accused were arrested on spot .

The police spokesman further stated that in this regard, a case vide FIR No. 67/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Kralgund and an investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding Drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt with as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace, reads the statement.(GNS)
