Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal solved a theft case by arresting six accused persons and recovered stolen property from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Tuesday.
Acting on a written complaint from one Mohammad Younis Jungle, son of Mohammad Mitha of Kalakoot Rajuri, about the theft of his sheep and goats at Badipathri Behek Naranag, police with the help of technical inputs, recovered 30 stolen sheep and goats from the upper reaches of Gutlibagh forests. One Showkat Ahmad Bhat, son of Abdul Ahad, resident of Wurpash Ganderbal was apprehended.
During the investigation, Bhat confessed involvement of five more persons in the theft. Shafeeq Ahmad Khan, son of Mumtaz Ahmad and Tariq Ahmad Khan, son of Farooq Ahmad, both residents of Wurpash Ganderbal; Irfan Ahmad Kataria, son of Farooq Ahmad of Chatergull Bala Kangan; Mohammad Reyaz Baniya, son of Beena Amin, resident of Rajori, at present Chatergull Bala Kangan, and Irshad Ahmad Raina, son of Abdul Khaliq, resident of Gund Ari Kangan were subsequently arrested.
Two vehicles used in the commission of the crime were also seized. More recovery of stolen livestock is expected, police said.
