In a post on X, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge said, “We strongly condemn the cowardly terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ganderbal where several construction workers and a doctor have been killed.”

“This inhumane and despicable act of targeted violence shall not deter India in building key infrastructure projects in Jammu and Kashmir. As a nation, we are together in our fight against terrorism,” Kharge said.

“Our heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. We wish the injured a speedy recovery,” he added.

In a post in Hindi on X, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi said, “The killing of several people, including a doctor and migrant labourers, in the terrorist attack in Ganderbal, Jammu and Kashmir, is very cowardly and an unpardonable crime.”

“I express my deepest condolences to all the bereaved families and hope for the speedy recovery of the injured,” he said.

“This rashness of the terrorists will never be able to break the process of construction and the trust of the people in Jammu and Kashmir. The entire country is united in this fight against terrorism,” he said

Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra condoled the deaths in the terror attack and said killing innocent civilians and spreading violence and terror among the people are crimes against humanity.

In a post in Hindi on X, Priyanka Gandhi said the killing of civilians in a cowardly terrorist attack in Ganderbal is highly condemnable.

“Acts like killing innocent civilians and spreading violence and terror among the general public are crimes against humanity. The whole country is united against this,” the Congress general secretary said.

“My deepest condolences to the bereaved families and I wish the injured a speedy recovery,” she said.

Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Kumar Choudhary condemned the attack, and said that similar incidents have been carried out before elections in the past.

The deputy chief minister said that the situation needs to improve, and they must work towards that improvement. “What has occurred is extremely wrong, and we are deeply sorry for it.”

“It will take some time for things to get better. As for this incident, both the lieutenant governor and the chief minister have said that strict action will be taken,” he told reporters here.

The Director General of Police is also taking action on the terror attack, Choudhary said.

“Similar incidents have occurred before elections in the past, and this is one of those kinds of incidents. The government would never want such incidents to happen,” he said.

“We are elected representatives and we strongly oppose such actions,” the deputy CM said.

Choudhary said he was deeply saddened by the loss of lives. “I pray to God to give strength to the families who lost their loved ones in this tragedy, so they can endure this loss,” he said.

“The families who have been affected are our families and they are part of this government’s family,” he added.

BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh strongly condemned the killing of seven workers. Expressing his condolences to the bereaved families, Chugh said the brutal killing of innocent workers at a construction project reflected the extreme cowardice of the terrorists, who are evidently backed by Pakistan’s ISI.

Chugh, who is also the party in-charge for Jammu & Kashmir, said it was a clear sign of frustration from the terrorists following the peaceful completion of the Assembly elections.

He assured that the nefarious designs of Pakistan-backed terrorists would be decisively defeated, as security forces have been adequately strengthened on the basis of zero tolerance towards terrorism to protect the lives of the people.

Hurriyat Conference leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq also condemned the terrorist attack on a workers’ camp.

“Chairman Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and senior members of Hurriyat including Prof Ghani Bhat, Bilal Ghani Lone and Masroor Abbas Ansari expressed deep sorrow and grief over the dastardly killings in Gagangir,” the Hurriyat said in a statement.

The Mirwaiz emphasised that Islam strongly deplores such inhuman acts.

“Every life is precious, and to lose lives in this manner is extremely painful,” Mirwaiz said.

He lamented the incident as a grim reminder of the unending cycle of violence and uncertainty that the people of the region have endured for decades.

The Hurriyat chairman prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti said elections or big-ticket events like international marathons “cannot hide the truth that there is a problem in Kashmir which needs genuine attempts to resolve it”.

“Elections, marathons, a new government being sworn in. None of these can conceal or brush under the carpet a truth most unpalatable.

“There is a problem at hand in Kashmir which for decades has claimed innocent lives & will continue to rage. Unless we acknowledge it & make genuine attempts to resolve it,” she posted on X.

“How many more families & generations will have to pay a price for Delhi’s ignorance?” Iltija Mufti asked.
