Ya Sheikh Sayid Abdul Qadir Jeelani, Urs of Dastgeer Sahib observed with religious fervor in Kashmir

Srinagar: The annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), an 11th-century Sufi saint brought thousands of devotees from across the valley to the shrines of Dastgeer Sahab at Khanyar and Sarai Payeen in Srinagar on Tuesday.

The largest gathering on the occasion took place at the Dastgeer Sahib shrine in Khanyar, where a considerable number of devotees participated in congregational prayers following night-long prayers (Shab Khawani).

A similar gathering was held at Sarai Payeen Dastgeer Sahib shrine, where hundreds of devotees, including men, women, and children, paid reverence to the Sufi saint and took part in congregational prayers.

The eleven days of Urs began on October 3 with elaborate arrangements put in place by the administration and shrine managements for the devotees.

The annual Urs of Hazrat Sheikh Syed Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA) begins on 1st day of Rabi al Thani during which special prayers are held every day till 11th day of Rabi al Thani.

The shrine of Jenab Saheb Soura, Baramulla, and Bandipora in north Kashmir also hosted congregational prayers on the Urs.
