Srinagar: A Border Security Force (BSF) man Sunday shot himself dead with his service rifle in at District Police Lines (DPL) in north Kashmir’s Handwara, reports said.
Quoting sources, news agency NVI reported that the BSF man was found critically injured by his colleagues, following which he was taken to the District Hospital Handwara where he succumbed to his injuries.
The BSF man, whose identity has been withheld for now, was a part of E-127 Battalion.
His post-mortem is presently underway and after completion, his body will be handed over to his family.
Police have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident, sources said.
