70th Wildlife Week kick-starts from Dachigam National Park

SRINAGAR: On the eve of 70th Wildlife Week 2024, the Department of Wildlife Protection, J&K, Wednesday organized an inaugural function for the event at breathtaking Dachigam National Park, here.

The inaugural event attracted participation from numerous school students who gathered to celebrate the beauty of nature and learn about the importance of preserving wildlife. Activities included nature walks, educational workshops, and interactive sessions led by wildlife experts, fostering a spirit of environmental stewardship among the younger generation.

Speaking on occasion, Regional Wildlife Warden, Tawheed Ahmad Deva said, “Today marks not just the beginning of Wildlife Week, but also a renewed commitment to protecting our natural heritage. The enthusiasm shown by the students is a testament to the growing awareness of wildlife conservation in our society. It is imperative that we instill a sense of responsibility towards our environment in the youth, as they are the custodians of our planet’s future.”

Deva further said, as Wildlife Week unfolds, it serves as a reminder of the intricate balance between human activity and nature, encouraging everyone to play their part in safeguarding the environment for generations to come.

The week-long celebration will feature various programs aimed at raising awareness about wildlife conservation, including film screenings, art competitions, and expert talks. The initiative seeks to inspire participants to take action in their communities and contribute positively to the preservation of wildlife.

Among others, Rashid Y. Naqash, Regional Wildlife Warden HQ, Parvez Wani Wildlife Warden Central, Intesar Suhail, Wildlife Warden, North, Aliya Mir SoS Wildlife and Nadeem Qadri Amicus Curiae, J&K High Court were present on the occasion.
