22 years on, government fails to macadamize vital road link in Beerwah
FacebookTwitterWhatsapp

Beerwah (Budgam), June 24:  The link road from Mulshulla village which connects with Budgam-Beerwah road at Suchan village awaits macadamisation for a pretty long time now, 22 years- to be precise!  Interestingly the road falls in former chief minister and now MLA Beerwah, Omar Abdullah’s constituency and has yet failed to attract attention of the administration which, people allege, have ignored the ‘woes’ of the masses here.

Needless to say that the locals here are up in arms against the government claiming that after frequent reminders and applications, the administration has ignored their requests and turned a blind eye on the issue. “Besides other people, we also approached former chief minister and concerned MLA, Omar Abdullah, about the road, but nothing seems working,” a local said while talking too this reporter.

The much needed road link which, locals added, was further deteriorating due to lack of proper drainage system and the overflow of the side-by stream, needed blacktopping immediately which could be of great convenience to thousands of people.

People of the area also demand connecting the road to Bandgam village which can reduce the distance of 10-kms for commuters who travel to Srinagar via Soibugh.

When contacted, Assistant Executive Engineer R&B Beerwah, Abdul Qayoom, while stating that even the main road wasn’t macadamised since 1990, he added that “this year Budgam-Beerwah road will be completed and in next year other roads will follow,” he added.
