Srinagar: Police in Anantnag Friday claimed to have solved a theft case by arresting a woman for her alleged complicity involved in the crime. Police said stolen items were recovered from her possession.
Sharing details, police said acting on a complaint filed by one Shahizda Akhter, wife of late Ghulam Nabi Parray of Shipora Larkipora, regarding theft of golden ornaments, a case was registered and investigation initiated.
During the investigation, one Rehana, wife of Majid Dar, resident of Minward, was brought in for questioning. During questioning, she admitted the commission of crime and on her revelation, the stolen items, including, one gold bangle, four gold rings, one Jhumka (ear-ring), one chain with a pendant worth approximately ₹ three lakhs, were recovered from her residence, police said.
Further investigation led to the recovery of additional gold ornaments from her house. These include two gold bangles, one Jhumka, one gold chain, two pendants, one pair of earrings, one pair of tops, one gold ring, valued approximately ₹ 4.5 lakhs.
The accused has been arrested and the investigation is going on.
