Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Peoples Conference President, Sajad Gani Lone, today said that Public Safety Act (PSA) was introduced in Jammu and Kashmir by JK National Conference to harass opponents and today the third Gen of the same party is seeking votes in the name of revoking the same act.

“A humble proposition. Not as someone involved in politics. But as a common Kashmiri. The grandfather after getting a massive mandate enacts one of the most draconian laws’ ever, in the entire country. Such is the oppressiveness of this cruel law— that after August 5, 2019, the GOI literally changed most of the laws. But they held on to the PS,” Lone said in a post on X.

“The report card till date. Thousands and thousands jailed. No recourse to bail. Families broken up. Families Destroyed. Now the grandson without showing any remorse— not even token—‘threatens’ to repeal the law if he is elected. The dialogue delivery is not defined by humility. But as if he is out to do the Kashmiris a favour. Doesn’t propriety demand that the family at least shuts up about PSA. Repeal it if you ever come to power. But don’t seek votes in the name of repealing PSA. That is like rubbing salt into wounds of those thousands who were incarcerated under PSA. The least you can do is unconditionally apologise. And undergo a penance of at least shutting up,” the post further reads.
