DC Sgr visits Shrine of Hazrat Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (R.A)

SRINAGAR: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, today visited the shrine of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arfeen, Sheikh Hamza Makhdoom (R.A) at Makhdoom Sahab area of Srinagar city to oversee the arrangements being made for upcoming Urs.

The visit was part of the ongoing efforts to ensure that all preparations are in place for the smooth and safe conduct of the event, which is expected to attract thousands of devotees from across Kashmir.

During the visit, the Deputy Commissioner reviewed various aspects of the arrangements, including water, electricity, traffic management, crowd control, sanitation, and the provision of essential services such as medical facilities.

Dr Bilal also interacted with Auqaf Committee members, locals and administration officials to discuss the final stages of planning.

The DC directed the concerned to ensure a smooth supply of water for devotees, and emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness in and around the shrine and instructed the SMC to take necessary actions to uphold hygiene.

Additionally, the PDD was directed to ensure a continuous 24/7 power supply in the area. Besides, he directed the deployment of Medical teams during the Urs days.

“The safety and comfort of the devotees are our top priorities. We are committed to ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate a peaceful and orderly observation of Urs,” said Dr Bilal.

He said, “The shrine of Hazrat Sultan-ul-Arfeen holds great spiritual significance, and we are working diligently to make sure that every facility is made available for the devotees for their pleasant experience.”

The Deputy Commissioner expressed satisfaction with the preparations so far but emphasized the need for continued vigilance and coordination among all stakeholders. He also instructed the concerned departments to address any remaining issues promptly and to maintain a high level of readiness throughout the event.

The visit concluded with a walkthrough of the shrine premises, where Dr Bilal interacted with devotees and received feedback on the arrangements.

The Deputy Commissioner assured them that their concerns would be addressed and encouraged them to cooperate with authorities to ensure successful observation of Urs.
