LG releases book – ‘Common Property Resources and Sustainable Rural Livelihoods’

Jammu, Aug 10:  Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today released a book titled “Common Property Resources and Sustainable Rural Livelihoods”, at Raj Bhawan.

The book is authored by Dr. Jai Prakash Verma, Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Centre Jammu, and Prof. Vinod Kumar Srivastava, Department of Economics and Rural Development, Dr. Rammanohar Lohia Avadh University, Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh.

The LG congratulated and extended his best wishes to the authors.

The book explores common property resources’ (CPRs) role in livelihood development in tribal villages of Uttar Pradesh, examining policy frameworks, socio-economic profiles and resource utilization patterns.

Prof. Bechan Lal, Vice Chancellor, Cluster University of Jammu; Prof. (Dr.) K.G. Suresh, Vice Chancellor, Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism & Communication, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh; Dr. Dilip Kumar, Regional Director, Indian Institute of Mass Communication, Jammu and Mahendra Tiwari, senior journalist, were also present on the occasion.

Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today handed over the appointment letter, on compassionate grounds, to Renu Sharma, wife of Vijay Kumar, who was killed in the Reasi terror attack, an official press release informed.

It said Vijay Kumar, a resident of Reasi, was driving the bus carrying pilgrims which was attacked by the terrorists on June 09.

The LG assured all possible assistance and support from the J&K administration to the family of the slain civilian.

Vishesh Paul Mahajan, Deputy Commissioner Reasi, and the family members of Vijay Kumar were also present at the Raj Bhawan.

Meanwhile, Rahul Sahai, Chairman, PHD Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu called on Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at Raj Bhawan today.

Subsequently, Tarun Singla, Officiating President, Bari Brahmana Industries Association (BBIA), along with Dr. Sanjay Bansal, National President, Federation of Trade & Industry of India also met the Lt Governor and apprised him of various important matters pertaining to industry and healthcare sector.
