JAMMU: The Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department has responded to a news item published by a Hindi Daily Newspaper on July 30, 2024.
The article reported on protests against the tentative General Merit list for appointments of outstanding sportspersons under the quota for the calendar years 2014–2022, as outlined in SO. 12 of 2022 and SO. 412 of 2023.
The YSS Department clarifies that the General Merit list of provisionally eligible candidates, organized year by year, was published to invite objections and claims from the public within 15 days. This list, published on July 19, 2024, includes candidates who applied for appointments according to the J&K Appointment of Outstanding Sportspersons Rules 2022.
The department emphasizes that any objections or claims received within the stipulated period will be thoroughly examined by a constituted committee. The committee will review these submissions in accordance with the rules and make decisions accordingly. The final Merit list will be issued after considering all objections and grievances to ensure transparency in the selection process.
The YSS Department also addressed attempts by certain individuals to undermine the transparent process established under SO. 12 of 2022 and SO. 412 of 2023, which aims to recognize athletes’ achievements over the past decade.
Any person with grievances or objections to the provisional merit list can submit them via the official email (yssdept234@gmail.com) by August 4, 2024. All submissions will be evaluated strictly on their merit as per the provisions defined in SO. 12 of 2022 and SO. 412 of 2023.
