Ayushi Sudan inaugurates modern Reading Hall of District Library Kupwara

KUPWARA: Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan today laid foundation for construction of Additional Block of District Library Kupwara to create more accommodation for the library.

She also inaugurated a modern and upgraded Reading Hall in the existing Library building on this occasion.

Vice Chairman, DDC Kupwara, Haji Farooq Ahmed Mir; Member DDC Drugmulla, Advocate Aamina; Member DDC Haihama, Haji Sonawallah Khan; Director Libraries & Research, Mohammad Rafi, other dignitaries and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

On the initiative of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, a counselling session was also organized in the newly opened Reading Hall of the Library where Seerat Baji, IAS, Dr Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Malik, IPS and Anurag Arya, IFS imparted tips to the civil services aspirants on how to crack these prestigious exams.

It was informed that the additional block for District Library Kupwara is coming up at a cost of Rs 1.68 crore and it will have a well-equipped spacious Reading Hall with modern amenities.

Speaking on the occasion, the Vice Chairman, District Development Council Kupwara, Haji Farooq Mir said the libraries have been considered a symbol of the collective consciousness and intellect of a country and society.

The Vice Chairman appreciated the efforts of the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara and Director Libraries & Research in providing excellent library facilities, both in terms of infrastructure and collection, to the people of Kupwara district, which would serve as a Powerhouse of Knowledge and benchmark for other districts of the UT. He said that people generally having gone away from book reading and facilities like these would bring them back to libraries.

On the occasion, the Deputy Commissioner Kupwara said that this library would provide a rich learning environment to all the seekers of knowledge especially UPSC, KAS aspirants and cultivate the culture of reading in the district.

DC called upon the people in general and youth in particular to avail these facilities, urging them to make book reading a habit and visit the Public Libraries in their respective areas to benefit from the treasure-trove of resources available there.

Interacting with the civil services aspirants, DC said that deciding to participate in the UPSC exam is indeed one of the toughest decisions for aspirants. This decision involves committing significant time, effort, and resources to prepare for one of the most competitive exams in India. She emphasized the importance of self-assessment, understanding personal motivations, and being mentally prepared for the rigorous preparation process.

She said that the counselling sessions for Civil Services, NEET, JEE and other competitive exams would be a regular feature at the District Library Kupwara in future.

DFO Kamraj, Anurag Arya, UPSC Rank Holder, Seerat Baji and DR Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Malik shared their experiences with the civil services aspirants on how to crack these exams.
