Congress only alternative to defeat communal & divisive policies of BJP: G.A. Mir

Anantnag: All India Congress Committee (AICC) General Secretary Ghulam Ahmad Mir on Sunday said that Congress is the only alternative in the country fully capable of defeating the communal and divisive policies of the BJP.

“It (BJP) is in the habit of creating fissures amongst the communities for the lust of power, but Congress always fought and will continue to fight for justice, equality and safeguarding rights of every section of the people living. It has always been the Party’s great endeavour to serve people equally, and will continue to strive hard for their equitable development,” said Mir.

He made these comments while addressing party workers of Block Shahbad at Manzmou in Dooru Anantnag.

Mir told the Party workers that Congress has always been at the forefront of ensuring an atmosphere of unity and brotherhood in the country and never compromised on its stated position of fighting and defeating the communal and divisive politics of BJP. “Nation has been witnessing how BJP creates fissures amongst the communities for political gains, at the same time, it (Nation) also realizes that Congress is the only alternative which poses great challenges to BJP’s endeavour to divide public on a region and religions basis.”

Mir criticized BJP for pushing J&K towards darkness to serve its political agenda, but the people have rejected its (BJP’s) policies and decisions and they will continue to oppose BJP’s experiments and misadventures with respect to Jammu and Kashmir.

Mir urged Party workers to remain steadfast in highlighting public issues especially unemployment menace, development deficit, economic backwardness and many other issues like lack of development at the grassroots and asked them to try their best to seek resolution.

The suspension of the democratic process in J&K is unprecedented, a direct assault on people’s rights be it the freedom to fight for development, freedom to question Govt policies or be it the freedom to seek resolution of issues, Mir said adding that the uncompromising fight of the party(Congress) against BJP’s anti-people policies shall continue.
