Lok-Adalat on Bank Recovery Cases held at Sgr, GBL, Pul & B’pora

SRINAGAR: As per the plan of action/Lok-Adalat calendar for the year, 2024, issued by J&K Legal Services Authority, the District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) of Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama and Bandipora Saturday conducted Lok-Adalat on Bank Recovery Cases.

The Lok Adalat serves as a transformative mechanism for resolving disputes by offering a platform for parties to settle their differences amicably, Lok Adalats play a crucial role in promoting social harmony and fostering a more just and equitable society.

The primary objective of the Lok Adalat for bank recovery cases was to ensure prompt and affordable resolutions, thereby alleviating the burden on the conventional court system. Participants were enabled to negotiate settlements, leading to mutually agreeable outcomes that avoided the prolonged stresses typical of formal judicial proceedings.

In Srinagar, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Srinagar organized a Special Lok Adalat at the District Court Complex Mominabad Srinagar, for amicable settlement of Bank Recovery cases.

The Lok Adalat was held, under the supervision of Jawad Ahmed, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Srinagar.

One bench was constituted for the said Lok-Adalat for the amicable settlement of Bank Recovery Cases, which was presided over by Arvind Sharma (Addl. District & Sessions Judge, Bank Cases) Srinagar and Arti Mohan (Presiding Officer POCSO Court) Srinagar.

Overall 60 cases were taken up for settlement, out of which 40 cases were amicably settled and Rs. 5464047 was awarded as settlement amount in Bank Recovery Cases.

In Ganderbal, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Ganderbal in collaboration with Tehsil Legal Services Committees of Ganderbal and Kangan conducted Lok-Adalat under the supervision and chairmanship of Ritesh Kumar Dubey, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge) Ganderbal, and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA Ganderbal.

The Lok-Adalat was constituted of a Single Bench for the amicable settlement of cases, wherein the Bench was presided over by the Principal District and Sessions Judge, Ganderbal and Secretary DLSA as Bench Member.

Overall 29 cases were taken up for settlement, out of which 25 cases were amicably settled/Compromised on the spot and Rs. 4,10,800 was awarded as a settlement amount.

In Pulwama, the Lok-Adalat for Bank Recovery cases was organized in the District Court and other subordinate courts of the district under the chairmanship of Naseer Ahmad Dar, Chairman DLSA (Pr. District & Sessions Judge), Pulwama and under the supervision of Susheel Singh Secretary DLSA Pulwama.

A total number of 60 cases were taken up by 04 benches in the district, out of which 12 cases were amicably settled and an amount of Rs.34,05,000 was awarded as settlement amount.

In Bandipora, the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Bandipora today conducted Lok Adalat on Bank Recovery Cases under the supervision of Amit Sharma, Chairman DLSA, (Pr. District & Session Judge) Bandipora and under the guidance of Nusrat Ali Hakak, Secretary DLSA, Bandipora.

One Bench was constituted for the said Lok Adalat comprising a Presiding Officer and a Member. The Bench was presided over by Amit Sharma (Pr. District & sessions Judge) Bandipora and Reyaz Ahmad Shah (Advocate).

Nonetheless a total No. of 22 Cases were taken up, out of which 02 Cases were settled and an amount of Rs. 5,58,300 was realized.
