Srinagar: Police in Baramulla have solved a theft case by arresting the accused person, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
He said acting on a complaint from one Hasan Din, son of Ghulam Qadir of Gawalta, about theft of ₹1 lakh from his pocket while waiting in a queue at SDH Uri for an OPD ticket, a case was registered under Section 303/BNS at Police Station Uri.
During the investigation, police after reviewing the CCTV footage, zeroed in on a suspect identified as Syed Bidar Ali, son of Syed Nazar Shah, a resident of Kund Berjala Kamalkote, who was called in for questioning.
During questioning, the accused person confessed his involvement in the crime which led to the recovery of ₹42,000 from his residence. Further investigation into the case is going on, police said.
