Altaf Bukhari pays tribute to the martyrs of July 13

Srinagar: Apni Party President, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, on Friday, paid glowing tributes to the martyrs of July 13, 1931.

In his statement, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari said, “This day holds great significance in our history, as it marks the sacrifice of numerous ancestors who laid down their lives on this very day in 1931. They gave their lives for the democratic rights of the people. It was through their sacrifices that J&K was liberated, and democracy took root here. Therefore, this historic day marks the dawn of a democratic era in Jammu and Kashmir.”

He further said, “This historic day will continue to inspire the people of J&K to stand for democracy and uphold the democratic rights of all.”

“Apni Party is committed to upholding the mission of these martyrs by continuing our peaceful struggle to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions in Jammu and Kashmir, ensuring that the people of this region are no longer deprived of the benefits of democracy,” he added.

Reiterating his demand, Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari called on the government to permit people to visit the martyrs’ graveyard in Naqshband Sahab tomorrow (July 13) to pay tribute to these heroes.

He said, “People traditionally used to visit the martyrs’ graveyard to commemorate this historic day. An official function used to be held on this day, and it marked a gazetted holiday. The Apni Party strongly urges the restoration of these practices to honour the sentiments of the people.”
