Driver dies after oil tanker falls into river in Sumbal

Srinagar: A speedy oil tanker fell into the River Jhelum in Wangipora, Sumbal in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district during the preceding night, leading to the death of its driver.

Quoting an official, news agency Kashmir Scroll reported that during the preceding night an oil tanker on way from Srinagar towards Sumbal skidded off the road near Wangipora checkpost and fell into the river Jhelum.

Later the body of the deceased driver — identified as Jitendher Singh, son of  Inderjeet Singh of Bharakh, Reasi — was fished out from the river and shifted to CHC Sumbal for medico-legal formalities.

Police have registered a case and started an investigation.
