Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal have solved a theft case by arresting the accused person, a police spokesperson informed Friday.
Sharing details, he said investigating a case about theft of 24 batteries from a BSNL tower at Mamar during the night of 14-15 June, police with the help of technical evidences and CCTV footage, zeroed in on a suspicious vehicle that was spotted near the crime scene.
While verifying details of the said vehicle, police apprehended one Nazir Ahmad Dar, son of Sonaullah Dar of Rakh-e-Higam Sopore, at present Pushwari Naidkhai along with the said vehicle (JK05M-0894).
During questioning, the accused person confessed his involvement in theft of batteries and disclosed that he alongwith his associates have jointly committed the crime. He also confessed that they later sold the stolen batteries to one scrap dealer at Sopore.
All the 24 stolen batteries were recovered and seized while two vehicles were also confiscated. Further investigation is going on and more arrests are expected, police said.
