Gulmarg: A historic temple situated atop a hillock in the tourist resort of Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir, was destroyed by a fire early Wednesday, according to officials.
The fire broke out at the Shiv Temple, also known as Rani Temple, before dawn.
Police, with the help of locals, managed to extinguish the flames but were unable to save the temple, they said.
The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
The temple, a popular attraction for tourists, has been featured in several Bollywood movies, including the famous song ‘Jai Jai Shiv Shankar’ from “Aap Ki Kasam”.
