GPS tracker fixed on two bailed-out ‘terror associates’ in Sopore: Police

Srinagar, June 01: Police in Sopore have fixed a GPS-enabled anklet on two bailed-out “terror associates” for tracking their movement, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.

He said the step has been taken after obtaining formal orders from the court.

The accused persons identified as Aamar Mehraj Kaboo, son of Mehraj ud Din Kaboon of Mahrajpora Sopore, and Waseem Manzoor Gazi, son of Manzoor Ahmad Gazi of Watergam Rafiabad, were arrested in case FIR No. 185/2020 under section 7/25, 27 of IA Act, 16, 18, 20, 23, 38 ULAP Act of Police Station Sopore and FIR No. 161/2019 under section 7/25 IA Act 18, 39 ULAP Act of Police Station Dangiwacha respectively and have been enlarged bail by the court.

“These GPS anklets will be used to monitor the movement of the said terror associates and ensure that they don’t violate the bail conditions,” police said.
