Srinagar: The government on Friday constituted a committee for the fixation of the fee structure of professional colleges in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
In compliance to directions passed by the Supreme Court of India in Writ Petition (C) 350 of 1993, titled Islamic Academy of Education and another v/s State of Karnataka and others, sanction is hereby accorded to the constitution of committee for fixation of fee structure of professional colleges in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, said an order in this regard.
It said the committee will comprise Justice (retd.) Maharaj Krishan Hanjura (Chairman); Administrative Secretary, Higher Education Department (Member Secretary: for matters relating to Higher Education Department); Administrative Secretary, Skill Development Department (Member Secretary: for matters relating to Skill Development Department); Administrative Secretary, Health & Medical Education Department (Member Secretary: for matters relating to Health & Medical Education Department); representative of the Medical Council of India, now National Medical Commission (NMC), (Member); representative of All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE), (Member); and Chartered Accountant of repute (to be notified by the Chairman).
The Committee, as per the order, shall function strictly as per directions passed by the Supreme Court in Writ Petition (C) 350 of 1993, titled Islamic Academy of Education and another v/s State of Karnataka and others.
The Committee shall be serviced by the Health & Medical Education Department. The tenure of the Committee shall be for a period of one year or till further orders, whichever is earlier, the order reads.
