Srinagar, May 31: Senior CPI(M) leader M Y Tarigami has urged the reconstituted Screening Committee by the J&K Government for provisionally registered Kashmiri Migrants to expedite the process of their registration without further delay.

With approximately 1400 families in distress, these Kashmiri migrants have endured severe hardships for nearly a year since their relief and ration were halted. Recently, a delegation of these migrants approached Tarigami, detailing the dire circumstances they have faced, including the inability to provide for their families due to the suspension of relief payments.

It is disheartening that even families affected by violence, who are included under provisionally registered migrants, have been denied relief and ration assistance. These migrants have been provisionally registered for over two and a half decades, highlighting the prolonged neglect they have endured. The authorities should have initiated the screening process long ago to prevent their suffering.

Tarigami has called upon the members of the Screening Committee to promptly address the situation by regularizing the registration of these families. He emphasizes the urgent release of pending relief and ration to alleviate their suffering.
