Srinagar: With Union Home Minister Amit Shah declaring that no family member of “terrorists and stone pelters will be eligible for government jobs” here, the J&K unit of the BJP Tuesday said the order could be ‘revoked’ under general amnesty in future.

Endorsing the Home Minister’s remarks, the BJP state general secretary (Org), Ashok Kaul said “Offering government jobs to history-sheeters would be a grave mistake”.

However, he was quick to clarify that “anyone who admits to having participated in acts of terrorism or stone-throwing may be pardoned in the future under general amnesty”.

“The home minister’s stern stance against terrorists and stone pelters is obvious and the J&K BJP supports his statement. Those who have had cases registered against them for engaging in acts of terrorism or stone-throwing are testament to their involvement in anti-national activities,” Kaul told reporters here.

The probability that a government would later revoke the order depends on whether the “history-sheeters” acknowledge their complicity in anti-national activities. “Hiring history sheeters at this stage would be a grave mistake because people with this mentality could go to any extent and harm anyone for money,” he added.

The BJP leader also exuded confidence that the party will emerge as the single largest party in India and that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will continue to lead the country.

“There’s absolutely no doubt that BJP will breach the 400 mark and take the lead as the single largest party. The way Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and other BJP leaders lead election campaigns confirms that BJP will form government on June 4,” Kaul said.

In reference to the significant reshuffle in the BJP’s J&K unit, Kaul said party elections will undoubtedly take place as the Parliamentary elections prevented them from being held last year. The party president was granted an extension, and with the elections about to conclude, fresh elections will be held.

“Fresh party elections will be held for state, national, district, and constituency presidents as soon as the Lok-Sabha elections are over. The party poll is scheduled and all necessary arrangements have been made in this direction,” he added.
