Family of 8 rescued after house collapses on them in Uri

Baramulla: Amid heavy rains, a house collapsed in Bujthalan Boniyar Uri trapping eight members of a family under the debris, who were later rescued by neighbours.

Witnesses said that a residential house collapsed after a landslide hit it at Bujthalan village of Boniyar Uri. Thanks to the timely intervention by the locals, all the eight members of the family caught under the debris were rescued, though some of them were injured.

The injured were transported to the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Boniyar for medical attention.

Dr. Khurshed Khan, the Block Medical Officer (BMO) of Boniyar, confirmed the incident, stating that medical teams and ambulances were dispatched immediately to the site of the accident.

As the injured receive medical treatment, authorities are assessing the situation to prevent similar incidents in future, especially considering the challenging weather conditions prevailing in the area.
