Local news agencies reported that hailstorms damaged fruit trees in several areas of south Kashmir’s Shopian district including Sugoo, Tharina, Molu, Dangerpora, etc.

Dr Mukhtar Ahmad, who heads the Meteorological centre in Srinagar said that weather is expected to remain generally dry from tomorrow till April 25, but added that the possibility of afternoon thundershower activity at isolated places can’t be ruled out.

He said the weather would remain generally cloudy while light rain with thunders is expected at many places on April 26-27.

The MeT department asked the farmers to resume farm operations after April 21st.

Meanwhile, Srinagar-Jammu national highway was restored for vehicular movement after remaining closed for hours due to mudslide at Mehad, Ramban and shooting stones at Kishtwari Pathar, Banihal yesterday.

As soon as the road was cleared, the traffic was allowed to ply in the late afternoon.
