Police in Rajouri crack down on reckless drivers

Rajouri: The Jammu and Kashmir Police at Kandi police station in Rajouri have booked the drivers of a bus and a minibus for overloading and engaging in risky and reckless driving that endangered the lives of passengers.

According to a statement issued to the news agency Kashmir Scroll by the police, two vehicles, bearing registration numbers JK02AL 1361 for the bus and without registration for the minibus, were traveling from Badhal to Kotranka. Both drivers were operating their vehicles recklessly, attempting dangerous overtaking maneuvers, and jeopardizing the safety of passengers, especially on sharp curves.

A police team from Kandi police station, led by SHO Shakeel Manhas, intercepted both vehicles. The bus, registered as JK02AL1361, was being driven by Kuldeep Singh, son of Kamal Singh, a resident of Badhal. It was found to be overloaded with ten passengers. The minibus, driven by Jaswant Singh, son of Thakur Singh, a resident of Kangota Khawas, was also overloaded with nine passengers, despite lacking a registration number.

Subsequently, a case under FIR 36/2024 U/Ss 279/336/194A, 184 MV Act was registered at the Kandi police station, and the investigation is ongoing.u
