SRINAGAR, APRIL 03: In view of the General Elections to Lok Sabha-2024 scheduled to be held on May 13, 2024, for 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency, the District Election Officer (DEO), Srinagar, Dr Bilal Mohi-Ud-Din Bhat, Wednesday chaired a meeting with representatives from various Political Parties at Meeting Hall of the DC Office Complex, here.

The meeting was followed by an orientation program to sensitize the representatives of various Recognized Registered and unrecognised Registered Political Parties and other stakeholders about the process of Nomination for the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections as per the instructions of the Election Commission of India.

At the outset, the DEO said that the orientation program provides a platform to sensitize political parties about the various aspects regarding the procedures to be followed while filing Nomination forms for contesting the upcoming Lok Sabha Elections 2024. He said interaction with political parties is of imperative nature to uphold integrity, fairness, and transparency throughout the electoral process.

Dr Bilal urged representatives of all the political parties to display utmost integrity and responsibility, thereby setting a positive environment for a free, fair, and peaceful electoral process.

The DEO expressed hope that all the political parties shall cooperate and adhere to the guidelines of ECI, thereby encouraging a conducive environment for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the Lok Sabha Elections.

During the meeting, the Assistant Returning Officer, Headquarters, Mohammad Aslam Chaudhary gave a detailed presentation about the filling of Nomination process and briefed the representatives of the various Political Parties about the procedure of filling out Nomination forms in detail.

He also deliberated upon all the related concepts regarding Nomination filling by the contesting candidates for the Lok Sabha elections for the 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency.

The representatives of Political Parties were also apprised that Notification will be issued on 18 April 2024, the Last date for filing Nominations is 25 April 2024 and Scrutiny of Nomination shall be held on 26 April, while 29 April 2024 is the last date for withdrawal of candidature.

Similarly, the Polling for the 02-Srinagar Parliamentary Constituency will be held on May 13, 2024, and the Counting of votes shall be held on June 04, 2024.

Deputy District Election Officer, Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, Officers/Officials of District Election Authority Srinagar and other concerned were present in the meeting.
