 Senior Surgeon Dr. Afak Yusuf Sherwani shines at International Conference in South Korea

Baramulla: In a proud moment for the Department of General & Minimal Access Surgery at Government Medical College (GMC), Baramulla, Dr Afak Yusuf Sherwani showcased his expertise on the global stage at the 60th Annual Congress of the Korean Association of Hepato-Biliary Pancreatic Surgery (KAHBP) held in Seoul, South Korea.

Dr. Sherwani, a Senior Consultant of the department, was invited to speak and moderate sessions at this prestigious international gathering. He delivered a lecture during the Bilio-Pancreatic Symposium I and moderated the Bilio-Pancreatic Symposium II, focusing on laparoscopic procedures related to gallbladder diseases.

The conference, attended by 745 surgeons from 48 countries, featured renowned experts in Hepato-Biliary Pancreatic (HBP) surgery. Dr. Sherwani’s participation as a speaker and moderator highlighted his expertise and the excellence of the surgical department at GMC Baramulla, under the leadership of Dr. Hakeem Vaqar, Head of the Surgery Department.Prof.Dr.Ruby Reshi, the Worthy Principal of GMC Baramulla, and Dr. Parvaiz Masoodi, Medical Superintendent associated with the hospital, extend heartfelt congratulations to the Department of Surgery for this significant achievement on the international stage.

Dr Syed Abid Rashid (IAS), Secretary of Health & Medical Education J&K, and the Director of Health Services, Kashmir, were acknowledged for granting permission for Dr. Sherwani to attend the conference.
